If you have ever sat around and thought to yourself, "I wonder what it might be like to bleed from every hole in my body?" Then you are in luck!! There is one snake in the world who's bite will do just that! The name of this snake is Boomslang. What an awesome name right?
It has a highly potent venom, which it delivers through large fangs located in the back of the jaw. Boomslangs are able to open their jaws up to 170° when biting. The venom of the Boomslang is primarily a hemotoxin; it disables the coagulation process and the victim may die as a result of internal and external bleeding. The venom has been observed to cause hemorrhage into tissues such as muscle and brain. Other signs and symptoms include headache, nausea, sleepiness, and mental disorders.
There is a particular antivenom that does help but most people that get bit don't get access to it quickly enough. I am not a fan of snakes for this very reason. If you see one please take a photo!!
Even people that are not "survivalists" know that you wont last long in this world with out water. It will be one of the first thing you will need in any situation if you intend to live. Most people also know that you shouldn't drink sea water when you are in a survival situation as well because of the high salt content as it will only dehydrate you even more then you may already be.
There is something that probably not many of you know about sea water though. If it is frozen it is much less harmful to you then liquid sea water. When frozen the sea water contains only a tenth of the amount of salt that the liquid form does due to the fact that the salt is separated from the water when freezing as it does not fit into the crystalline structure of ice.
It is still not a great substitute for fresh water but frozen sea water is much better, and you can survive on it much longer, then liquid sea water. Obviously this only comes in handy in a very cold climate where even the cold can kill you if you don't have proper shelter but still knowing this just may save a life one day!
A 55 year old South Dakota man, named Earl F. Ellwanger Jr, keen on disproving a key point made in an episode of C.S.I. was killed in 2007 after shooting himself in the stomach. The man was trying to prove that a woman featured in the episode could indeed shoot herself in the stomach, despite a script that showed otherwise. "He decided to show that the program was incorrect and didn't realize the shotgun was loaded," said Fall River County Sheriff Jeff Tarrell. Ellwanger was taken by ambulance to Minnekahta Junction where the ambulance was met by a Black Hills Life Flight aircraft, which flew him to Regional Hospital.
Sadly he did not make it but like any other man would be I am sure that in his last moments he was very proud of himself for proving his point!
